This vintage folding Sicur Brevettato bicycle is an awesome example of
smart mid-century design; folds to fit into even a small car, enclosed
bike chain, great luggage rack. This bike does need some work as it has
been spray painted in cheap silver paint including the chrome, although
the chrome appears to be in good shape. The tires are dry rotted but
will hold air for a while. The seat is not original and is very large
for the bicycle. I have ridden this bicycle and everything seams to
function correctly. I’m not a bike expert so if I’m glossing over
something important do not hesitate in asking questions.

September 21, 2010IRA bombing of Claudy described as Northern Ireland’s forgotten atrocity
August 27, 2010An eight year-old girl, Kathryn Eakin, was among the dead following the attack
on July 31, 1972. A further 30 people were injured.
Three car bombs were detonated without warning in the village, 11 miles from
Londonderry, killing five Roman Catholics and four Protestants.
The British Government and the Roman Catholic church has been accused of
helping to shield the priest suspected of master-minding the attack.
Father James Chesney, a known IRA sympathiser, was transferred to a parish in
the Irish Republic outside the UK criminal jurisdiction. He died of cancer
in 1980 aged 46 without ever being questioned by police.
The IRA never admitted responsibility, however, the bombs were left in the
village on the same day as the British Army launched Operation Motorman to
remove barricades set up in so-called republican no-go areas of Londonderry.
Six months earlier British Paratroopers had shot and killed 13 unarmed men
attending a civil rights march on Bloody Sunday.
Sean MacStiofain, who was the IRA\’s chief of staff at the time, later wrote: \”My
heart and everything I had inside me just seemed to tighten up in a knot and
sink slowly to the bottom of my stomach. \’Holy Mother of God\’, I thought.
\’Who is responsible for this?\”\’
Claudy has been described as an IRA \”mistake\”. The bombers had left
their devices and driven to Dungiven to make warning calls. But because of
earlier bomb damage, telephone lines were down. By the time the first
warning was received, the first bomb had exploded outside McElhinney\’s pub
on Main Street.
The year 1972 was the worst of the Troubles, with 258 violent deaths. July
1972 was the month of Bloody Friday, when 26 IRA bombs killed 11 people in
Belfast, and of talks between British ministers and IRA leaders.
Ford to Offer V-10 Gas Engine for Medium-Duty Chassis Cab Trucks
July 23, 2010Ford’s mighty three-valve, 6.8-liter Triton V-10 is one of our
favorite gasoline engines because of its diesel-like performance.
Although Ford discontinued the V-10 as an option for its 2011 F-Series
Super Duty pickups — substituting the all-new two-valve 6.2-liter V-8
gasser in its place — the company is keeping the 10-cylinder mill for
2011 F-450 and F-550 chassis cabs and the F53 motorhome chassis, and
Ford has just announced that it will offer the V-10 as a brand-new
option for 2012 F-650 and F-750 medium-duty chassis cabs.
Today’s Ford F-650 and F-750 commercials are offered with a Cummins
inline-six diesel engine, a variation of the same six-cylinder oil
burner offered in Ram HD pickups and chassis cabs. By adding the V-10
for its Class 6 and 7 work trucks, Ford will become the only
manufacturer to offer a gas-powered vehicle in every truck class from 1
to 7.
GM used to offer an 8.1-liter V-8 gas engine for its medium-duty GMC
TopKick and Chevrolet Kodiak chassis cabs, but production of those rigs <a onclick="s_objectID="ended last year_1";return
this.s_oc?this.s_oc(e):true” href=”http://news.pickuptrucks.com/2009/08/gm-ends-production-of-medium-duty-trucks.html”>ended
last year.
“No other manufacturer offers this wide of a range of options and
solutions for truck customers,” said Len Deluca, Ford’s director of
commercial truck sales and marketing. “The availability of a gas engine
in this medium-duty segment will be welcome news to many businesses and
municipalities.”
The powerful V-10 is rated at 362 horsepower and 457 pounds-feet of
torque, but its biggest advantage may be its price relative to
traditional diesel engines that dominate in classes 6 and 7. Gas engines
burn cleaner than diesels. They don’t require the same complex
exhaust-scrubbing hardware, which can mean saving thousands of dollars
in upfront purchase costs.
Instead of being paired with Ford’s legacy 5R110 five-speed automatic
transmission, the 6.8 will be mated with the all-new 6R140 six-speed
gearbox that debuted in 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickup trucks for both
the 6.7-liter V-8 diesel and 6.2-liter V-8 gas engines.
The 6R140 features Live Drive power takeoff with an output shaft
linked directly to the engine crankshaft providing constant PTO
operation any time the engine is running, regardless of vehicle speed.
It provides the capability to power PTO-driven accessories such as dump
bodies, generators, salt spreaders and snowplows.
Swan in Love
July 4, 2010One of the pleasures of seeing a
ballet like “Swan Lake” over and over is that every performance reveals
something a little bit different, a new nuance or a change of emphasis.
This revelation can be big or small, and can be produced by any of a
million elements, or, more likely by a combination of small factors,
from casting to tempi to lighting to the sound of the pointe shoes on
the stage and one’s own mood or ability to concentrate on a particular
night.
The
June 22 performance of by American Ballet, with Diana Vishneva and David
Hallberg in the roles of Prince Siegfried and Odette, was a perfect
example of this subtle shift of focus. Rather than the theme eternal
love sworn and then betrayed, I was struck by another, related motif,
whose importance seemed greatly amplified: innocence lost. This is
partly due to Vishneva’s interpretation, and partly due to the
production (staged by the company’s artistic director, Kevin McKenzie in
2000), which divides the character of the sorcerer, Rothbart, into
roles for two men. More importantly, McKenzie has added a mimed sequence
that “explains” his power over Odette. She is seen wandering in the
woods and encountering the handsome version of Von Rothbart (the one
with the goatee and purple leggings); he courts her, she relents, at
first willingly, and then is dragged into his cave where one presumes he
casts his “spell” over her—the next moment we see the other Rothbart,
in the shape of a bird-like creature, wrestling with a white swan.
Despite the silly swan prop (it always makes me giggle, just a little),
one cannot help getting the dark subtext of this scene: a kind of rape
has taken place. Rothbart’s human incarnation is a canny seducer, an
experienced sexual predator who lingers in the shadows, waiting for
pretty girls to saunter by. At this performance, this subtext was
further augmented by Vishneva’s undeniable erotic aura; as she walks
languorously in the forest, there is a definite air of vulnerability,
even availability, about her, not wanton in any way, but filled with
erotic longing. When she sees Rothbart, she is attracted, despite
herself. She’s ripe for the plucking, and Rothbart is there to take
advantage of the moment.

Perfume or eau de toilette? What’s the difference?
June 28, 2010Are you confused about the difference between perfume, eau
de cologne, eau de toilette and the other forms your
favourite scent comes in?
The word ‘perfume’ itself derives from the Latin per – through –
and fumare – smoke – so perhaps it’s not surprising the
subject is a bit hazy.
With the arrival of the good weather, you may be looking for
something a little lighter than the scent you use during the colder
months.
Each perfume house uses their own terminology and categories to classify
their perfumes according to the concentration of essences or aromatic
oils they contain, but the following should give you a general idea of
what you’re buying:

Eau de Cologne. At the bottom end of the range
as far as concentration is concerned, is eau de cologne. This
tends to contain about 7% essence dissolved in alcohol of 60º or 70º. It
is delightfully refreshing in hot weather and because
it doesn’t last long, it can be frequently reapplied directly to the
skin. It tends to be marketed in large sizes of up to 200 ml and is
often applied by spray.
Eau de toilette. Sometimes used to describe
the same concentration as cologne, eau de toilette can
contain up to around 10% aromatic essence. The top notes – the
first scent released by a perfume – are dominant, making it
refreshing when it is applied, and it evaporates and fades away quite
quickly. Eau de toilette and cologne are the most
popular forms in which fragrance is sold, and are particularly
appropriate for the summer.
Eau de parfum. After the top notes have died
away, the middle notes or heart notes of a perfume become noticeable.
This is the focus of eau de parfum which makes it perfect
to spray on hair or clothing. (Be careful with delicate
fabrics such as silk, though, as they may stain.) The concentration of
oils is over 15%, sometimes reaching as high as 20%. Since it is
less intense than perfume extract, it is also cheaper, but it
usually lasts well and is sold in small sizes.
Perfume. Also called perfume
extract or extrait, this is the most expensive version of any
fragrance; it’s also the most beautiful because of the whole
symphony of top, heart and base notes released over a period of time.
This is due to the high concentration of essences – as much as 40% by
volume. Perfume is applied directly to the skin on pulse spots – insides
of the wrists, behind the ears, at the throat… The average
concentration of essence in a perfume is 25%, which makes it the longest
lasting of all the scent categories. Only a tiny amount is
needed, which is reflected in the sizes in which it is sold.
Nippon Wheels
June 10, 2010We’ll start with the 2 guys who more or less have systematized their way out of the sweepstakes with lousy springs. That duo would consist of Fernando Nieve (9 IP, 6.00 ERA, 1.89 WHIP, 2 K’s) and Jon Niese (7.2 IP, 7.04 ERA, 1.83 WHIP). What can I say? If this championship doesn’t feature any nepotism and is fair and square for every man involved, then these two don’t deserve to be at Citi Field come April 5th. I positive that Jon Niese was the man Jerry Manuel wanted to win, but come on. He doesn’t deserve it. I suppose the best thing for him is to conk back to AAA, and hopefully go on an incredible stretch run and force the Mets to call him up at some point. He’s still young at 23, hopefully one of these days he’ll be contributing on a constant basis for the Mets. As for Nieve – who is out of options – I would not be devastated to see him be let go. He struck me as more of a "lightning in a bottle" stripe of guy, and I wouldn’t advise someone to bet the house that
What happened at the Battle of Kirksville?
June 10, 2010I am doing a project about a civil war
battle, and I do not know what happened at the Battle of Kirksville. Can
you tell me?
The Battle of Kirksville was a battle in the American Civil War
fought near the town of Kirksville, Missouri, on 6 August 1862nd The
victory of the Union helped consolidate the Federal Republic of control
over northeastern Missouri.
Cape Air will provide three daily non-stop roundtrip flights to and
from the Lambert-Saint Louis Airport. DOT chose to rechannel carriers
in preparation for the end of its contract with Kirksville’s current
EAS, Air Choice One, which ends in late July. The date that Peninsula
Air will begin operation in Kirksville is yet to be determined but an
interruption in service is not expected.
Several key components
in the selection of Cape Air were its online deployment systems and its
ticketing and baggage agreements. The new service also has a code-share
agreement with American Airlines at St. Louis, which will prolong to
the Kirksville-Saint Louis service.
Spare parts for Japanese cars
May 24, 2010Please no comments about them is a gas
guzzler, or how expensive it is. I know these two factors and I am still
interested. So please, give me unbiased opinions based on facts and
knowledgeable. Thank you!
, I’m not a big fan of styling, honestly. It looks like they took
only two different vehicles and sewed them together behind the rear
doors.
I really like the FX45, though. Infinity has come a long
way.
In the anime Black Lagoon, what happened to Balalaika;s face?
April 14, 2010It’s not an important detail in any way,
but she’s all…scarred down one side of her face. Anyone know what
happened to her?
Also, does Revy have a last name? That we know?
It got burned, they never tell you what exactly happened. No
Revy’s last name has yet to be revealed.
